Stress at Your Desk: Notice Whether Your Teeth Touch
Concentrated work can make it easy to miss a daytime clenching habit. You may first notice tired jaw muscles near the end of the day. Stress can be one contributor to bruxism, but fatigue and pain still deserve assessment when persistent or worsening.
Observe without testing
At a few natural breaks, notice whether your teeth are pressed together. Use that moment to let the jaw relax rather than deliberately clenching to check the strength of the muscles. Adjusting a work routine may help you recognize a habit, but it does not establish the diagnosis.
Bring a clear history
Tell the dentist when the soreness occurs, whether it limits eating or opening, and whether any tooth has become sensitive or chipped. Mention sleep symptoms and relevant medicine changes. Ask about appropriate conservative care and whether an appliance has a useful role for your findings. Avoid buying a device solely because an advertisement promises to eliminate stress. Tooth protection and identifying the causes of jaw symptoms are related but separate parts of care.
