Keeping Your Place in a Clear Aligner Sequence

Keeping Your Place in a Clear Aligner Sequence

A sequence of nearly identical trays can be surprisingly easy to mix up. Before beginning supervised clear aligner treatment, ask how your clinician wants you to identify, store, and change each set. The markings on the trays and packages should guide you; their apparent tightness should not become your own test of the correct order.

Build an uncomplicated storage system

Keep the current case separate from unopened sets. Follow the team’s instructions about retaining the previous trays, and label any storage bags clearly. If travel or a busy household makes mix-ups likely, keep a simple record of the set number and the clinician’s planned change dates.

Pause when the order is uncertain

If you are unsure which tray you wore, contact the treating office before moving ahead. Explain which packages are open and which numbers you can read. Do not force a tray into position or skip sets to catch up. Resolving an organizational problem early can prevent it from turning into an uncomfortable guessing exercise about the movement of your teeth.
