An Implant Crown That Feels Loose While the Implant Seems Fine
If an implant crown moves, call the dental office promptly and avoid testing it with your fingers or tongue. The sensation alone cannot tell you which component is involved. A restoration may feel loose for reasons that require different repairs, and the dentist needs to assess the area before deciding what to do.
Describe what you notice
Tell the team when the movement began and whether there is pain, bleeding, a clicking sensation, or a change in your bite. Ask what to avoid while waiting for assessment. If a component comes out, keep it in a clean container and bring it with you. Do not attempt to tighten anything with household tools.
Review the repair and follow-up
After the examination, ask which part was affected and whether the surrounding tissues need additional evaluation. Request instructions about eating, cleaning, and returning for a check. An implant restoration should not be judged only by whether it still allows you to chew. Addressing a new movement promptly is more useful than trying to determine at home whether the underlying implant feels solid enough to ignore it.
