A Tray That Rocks Instead of Seating During Aligner Treatment
A removable aligner should be evaluated if it rocks noticeably or no longer seats as expected. Several factors could affect fit, including changes in tooth movement or damage to the tray. Do not force the plastic with household tools or jump ahead to see whether a later tray feels better.
Contact the treating team
Describe which part lifts, when the change began, and whether an attachment appears missing. Explain any interruption in the prescribed wear schedule. Keep the tray and any previous tray the clinician has told you to retain, so they can advise which to bring or wear.
Avoid guessing at the correction
The team may need photographs or an in-person examination to understand what has changed. Instructions depend on the stage of your treatment, so advice from someone else’s experience may not apply. A fit problem is a reason to check the plan rather than accelerate it. Reporting the issue early gives the clinician a chance to assess movement and decide how to proceed before a small discrepancy becomes harder to manage.
