A Jaw Relaxation Reminder for Long Computer Sessions
Concentration can make it easy to overlook jaw tension. You may notice your teeth pressed together while answering messages, driving, or reading. Daytime clenching is a habit worth discussing when it accompanies soreness, headaches, or tooth wear, but awareness alone does not identify every cause of jaw pain.
Build a gentle check-in
Use an ordinary break to notice your jaw position and let the muscles relax. Avoid repeatedly opening as wide as possible to test stiffness, and reduce habits such as chewing pens or gum if they aggravate symptoms. Record whether discomfort is worse after concentrated work, on waking, or during meals.
Know when evaluation helps
Persistent pain, limited movement, or a change in how your teeth fit together warrants a dental assessment. A clinician can consider tooth problems, jaw joint conditions, and other explanations. A mouthguard may be appropriate for some people, but it is not a universal answer or a cure for stress. Bring your observations so advice can be tailored to the symptoms and habits you actually experience.
